Already working in traffic management and need to refresh your ticket and skills and stay compliant? This refresher course is designed to get you back up to speed quickly and confidently.

Our Basic Worksite Traffic Management, Traffic Control & Portable Traffic Devices (traffic lights) – Refresher course updates your knowledge and practical skills in traffic control, Traffic Management Plans, and portable traffic control devices currently used on worksites.

It’s practical, focused, and straight to the point — perfect for experienced workers who just need a professional refresh, not a full restart.

Course Content

This refresher course focuses on key skills you already know — with updates, practice, and clarification where it matters most.

You'll refresh and practise:

  • Safe traffic control using stop–slow bats
  • Implementing and following Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
  • Correct placement and use of temporary traffic signs and portable traffic devices
  • Positioning, setting up, and programming portable traffic control devices (traffic lights)
  • Clear on-site communication and teamwork
  • Site safety, hazards, and safe work practices around live traffic

Training is hands-on, efficient, and industry-focused, so you leave confident, current, and ready to work.

Assessment Method

Knowledge based questionnaires and practical demonstration

Pre-requisites

Whilst there are no pre-requisites for this course, candidates must hold:

  • Current or previous evidence of holding a valid motor vehicle drivers licence (not a Permit),
  • Valid Construction Induction Training Card also referred to as White or Blue Card

And you must complete the provided pre-requisite form and send it to our admin team with the listed documentation on the form (if this cannot be provided then you will need to attend the full course).

Academic Award & Recognition

Upon successful completion participants will be issued with a MAIN ROADS WA accreditation and a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment which will include the below units:

  • RIICOM201E Communicate in the Workplace
  • RIIWHS302E Implement Traffic Management Plans
  • RIIWHS205E Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat
  • RIIWHS303 Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices
  • RIIWHS206 Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs

CTF Pricing For Eligible Customers

$135 - This subsidised rate is available to eligible companies under our bulk billing arrangement with the Construction Training Fund (CTF).

Individuals may still be eligible for the subsidy; however, they must submit their claims directly to CTF, as we are unable to claim on their behalf. For more information about the individual claim process, please contact the CTF directly.

CTF provides funding support to assist with the training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the CTF’s contribution in helping reduce training costs for eligible participants.

Duration

1.5 Days

Please note: As this one-and-a-half-day program includes the mandatory practical exercises, successful participants will receive their MRWA accreditation at the conclusion of the course. Other training organisations may require candidates to complete a logbook or come back at additional cost to complete these exercises.

Important – Course Start Time
Our standard course start time is 1:00pm sharp.
Participants are required to arrive by 12:45pm for sign-in and room allocation.

Participants arriving after the course start time may be denied entry, and their booking may be cancelled.

Please note: Some courses may have alternative start times. Any variations will be clearly communicated prior to the course.

What To Wear

All course participants are required to wear appropriate work attire. Whilst enclosed shoes are a minimum requirement for attendance on any course, steel capped safety boots are required for practical exercises.

Morning Tea & Lunch

Feel free to grab a tea, coffee or snack before the course starts and during the course breaks.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch as it is NOT provided.
Vending machines are available at our West Swan site.
