Aim of this Course / Target Group
Prove your skills. Meet BHP requirements.
If you’re a BHP contractor or employee, maintaining current verification for Forklift and EWP operations is essential for site access and compliance. Our VOCs are designed to confirm your competency and keep your licence recognised. Choose to complete one VOC or both in a single session – fast, simple, and fully compliant.
This course is designed for:
- BHP contractors and employees who require verification of competency in Forklift or EWP operations.
- Workers needing to update or confirm their existing High Risk Work Licence as part of BHP site access or compliance requirements.
- Experienced operators who must demonstrate ongoing competency to meet workplace and regulatory obligations.
Course Content
The Verification of Competency (VOC) process is an assessment only (not a training course). It is designed to confirm participants’ current skills and knowledge in line with BHP and industry standards.
Depending on the unit(s) selected, the VOC may include:
- Knowledge Assessment – short written or verbal questioning to confirm understanding of safe work practices, WHS obligations, and site requirements
- Practical Assessment – observation of skills in operating a Forklift or EWP safely and effectively, including correct techniques, hazard management, and communication methods
- Compliance Check – confirmation that work is performed in accordance with legislation, codes of practice, and BHP site standards
Assessment Method
- Knowledge based questionnaires and practical demonstration
Pre-requisites
To undertake a VOC, all participants must already hold the relevant current High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) or qualification for the activity being assessed.
Participants will be required to provide evidence of competency prior to assessment. Acceptable forms of evidence include:
- A Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the relevant unit of competency
- A USI Transcript showing the completed unit
- A valid High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)
Without this evidence, participants will not be able to proceed with the VOC assessment.
Academic Award & Recognition
Participants may complete one or both VOCs depending on their job role and requirements.
Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with the relevant Verification of Competency for the unit(s) undertaken:
- Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck (LF)
- Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (over 11 metres) (WP)
Course Fee
$250.00 per VOC. If you book multiple VOCs, our team will contact you after your booking to arrange payment for the additional assessments
Duration
The total duration for this VOC program is approximately 3 hours when completing both Forklift and EWP assessments.
If participants are completing only one VOC, the assessment time will be shorter, depending on the specific unit being undertaken.
What To Wear
All course participants are required to wear long sleeve pants, a long sleeve shirt and steel cap boots.
