Manoeuvre and Test Plant and Equipment
Aim of this Course / Target Group
This program provides information and guided practice that will equip plant operators, trades assistance and mechanical tradespersons with the skills necessary to demonstrate competence to the minimum national standards NOHSC7019 so that they can, in a safe manner, manoeuvre and test equipment that has been identified as faulty or is under repair. The manoeuvring and testing predominantly takes place on site at the point of breakdown and requires the operation of the machines primary controls for the purpose of troubleshooting and/or to confirm that repairs have been effective.
The course is aligned to the nationally recognized unit RIISAM301D Test operational functions of vehicles and equipment which specifies the outcomes required including planning and preparation for work, the conduct of operational checks, start up, after start and shut down procedures, the safe movement of machines to the test area, and a range of basic operations that prove the functionality of operating systems of a range of machines.
Please note: The course may be completed within a shorter or longer time frame depending on the experience of the candidate and the range of equipment for which training is required.

- Manoeuvring safeguards
- Basic operating techniques and testing methods
Assessment only service is also available for experienced operators for initial certificate issue and VoC’s
Knowledge based questionnaires and practical demonstration
Must have basic English literacy skills
If required by the employer or by the site management, or if required to drive the machine(s) on a gazetted road, the candidate may require a Heavy Rigid (HR) Motor Vehicle Drivers License.
Academic Award & Recognition
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with the following Statement of Attainment which will be recognised nationally:
- RIISAM301D Test operational functions of vehicles and equipment
Where Is The Assessment Conducted
This training is conducted in the workplace for corporate clients. In order to conduct this training on your worksite you will need to provide the following:
- A range of safe, maintained, mobile equipment which may include front end loader, skid steer loader, excavator, dozer, telescopic materials handler, grader, roller, truck, water cart and others.
- A safe operating area
Morning Tea & Lunch
As this course is not delivered at the Safety Training Centre participants are required to provide their own refreshments.
